Community Outreach?
Not sure what to make of the city’s latest RSS feed. SCTV Previous and Current events
They sure are trying to make it look like the developers have done an an extraordinary amount of community outreach for years on this project. Yet most San Carlos residents don’t have a clue about this project, the sign for the project on the site is very small and is in an incredibly difficult place to notice.
If you going south on El Camino and are make a left turn on Holly (towards the freeway) you might notice it while you are turning left. If you look to the right while turning and squint you might notice the sign. But you really have to be aware of it and look for it.
Here is a request to the city.
Make a bigger sign and post it where the majority of traffic and pedestrians are, right at the intersection of San Carlos and El Camino where people walk by to get to the train.
Perhaps a lot more residents would be aware of the project. On the other hand maybe there is a reason for the signs obscurity?
In any case there have been meetings with the community with no concessions to height or density, no process like context sensitive solutions, which would make the project more sensitive to the needs of the community. And a host of other issues not worth repeating. Just look at the EIR feedback on the project.
