The Planning Commission is considering a Conditional Use Permit and Architectural Review for a new 3,654 square foot In-N-Out Burger fast-food chain with a drive-thru at the Planning Commission meeting on Monday July 19, 2010. However, it looks like the city staff want’s a continuance on this until August 16th.  Please read the PDF below:

Conditional Use Permit

The planning commision will be discussing a Conditional Use Permit and Architectural Review for a new in-and-out burger fast-food establishment with a drive-thru. They want a variance application for a free-standing sign exceeding maximum height and maximum square footage.  The fast food place will provide some tax revenue for the city but will have many negative impacts to traffic, health, and safety in our community.

This article describes the negative traffic impacts.

Readers should educate themselves on the health consequences of these type of establishments.

Watching the academy award nominated documentary Food Inc. is a good place to learn about the health and environmental implications of this type of diet.  It’s available as an instant play on netflix if you have the service.

In-N-Out Burger requested the continuance of this item to address comments by the Transportation and Circulation Commission regarding entry driveway movement and additional drainage engineering and sign placement analysis.

The application will now be heard at the Planning Commission Meeting on August 16th, 2010 not Monday July 19 or June 21st as originally planned.  This is a three month delay…

If you have any questions regarding this project please contact the Planning Division at (650) 802-4263 and post a comment on the site.
